Emergency Services

Emergency services on-farm are available for horses, sheep, goats, and pigs. Emergency services are only guaranteed for established clients who have been seen by Dr. Ford within the last year and have a valid client-patient-veterinarian relationship. Any small animal emergencies need to be seen at one of the nearest small animal emergency clinics located in Collinsville, Edwardsville, or St. Louis.

Euthanasia Services

  • On-farm euthanasia services are provided either by the intrathecal lidocaine method, or by the intravenous euthanasia solution method depending on owner preference and location of burial. Intrathecal lidocaine is a method increasingly used for horses that provides a more gentle, slower-paced euthanasia, which is why it is Dr. Ford’s preference in most cases. This method also has the benefit of being less toxic to the environment. Mane and tail braids will be collected as a keepsake for owners as well.

  • With at-home euthanasia services, we provide a peaceful experience for you and your pet in their last moments spent with the people they love the most in the comfort of their own home. Pets are given anesthesia before euthanasia to ensure a painless transition over the rainbow bridge. We provide watercolor, ink, and/or clay paw and/or nose prints of your pet, and we can help facilitate cremation services.

MEET THE OWNER

Dr. Suzanne Ford

Dr. Ford moved to southern IL in 2020 to help provide more equine care in the area with the experience she gained in her year-long equine medicine and surgery internship at the University of Illinois where she graduated from the year prior. Having worked in small animal general practice and small animal emergency care before opening her own business as well, she enjoys the variety of cases that come with being a mixed animal veterinarian who provides at-home care for dogs, cats, and pet pigs, as well as farm call services for large animals. Dr. Ford has 2 Belgian Draft mares, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 3 guinea pigs, and a saltwater fish tank, and enjoys powerlifting and seeing live music.
